Teenage Brewing

Teenage Brewing is really wild. The founder, Daichi Mori, was originally a musician and used to run a music label and live house called kilk records.

And during the COVID-19 pandemic, he took a hard look at his life and realized, "The feeling of being moved by a great album and the feeling of being moved by a great beer are the same." From there, he seriously started aiming to make the world's best beer.

And the brewery itself is amazing too. It was renovated from an old lumber warehouse in Tokigawa Town, and in that 100-tsubo space with high ceilings, there are huge speakers set up, so they brew beer while playing music.

Exactly. Their first brew, "Teenager," was a DDH IPA, a tropical-packed beer made with Mosaic, Galaxy, and Columbus. And their botanical sour ale called "My Brother Woody" is infused with Tokigawa-grown hinoki cypress. That's something only a town known for woodworking joinery could do.

What's also interesting is how deeply connected they are to the local community. They give spent grain to local farmers as fertilizer and receive vegetables in return. Rice husks are used for beer filtration, and in exchange they deliver beer to rice farmers. It all circulates through barter.

They've also released a DDH IPA collaboration with Tower Records Shibuya called "Killer Tune," the train-exclusive "SPACIA X SESSION" for Tobu Railway's limited express Spacia X, and even "SHOHEI Zen IPA" in collaboration with Shohei Ohtani. They're really unstoppable.
