Y.Y.G. Factory, officially Y.Y.G. Brewery & Beer Kitchen. It originally started brewing in Yoyogi, Tokyo in 2016, but in 2019 it set up its factory brewing base in Hon-Chiba, Chiba.

From Yoyogi to Chiba? Why did they move the base?

Yoyogi was a small brewpub, so they built a factory in Chiba to seriously ramp up production. It can produce 42 kiloliters a year and even has a canning line. It's also in a great spot, just a 1-minute walk from the east exit of JR Hon-Chiba Station.

Just 1 minute from the station! That's easy to drop by!

What's more, you can see the brewing equipment through glass from inside the shop. There's a display on the ceiling with canned beer moving around on a conveyor belt, and live-paint chalk art on the walls. It's full of playful touches.

That sounds so fun! Drinking while watching them make beer is the best!

Brewery director Yoshio Endo preserves the flavor, and the flagship beers are Yoyogi Amber Ale and Shinjuku Pale Ale. There's also a Shibuya IPA. It's interesting that the street and district names are used directly as beer names.

Wow! I'd love to compare Yoyogi, Shinjuku, and Shibuya! It's kind of strange and interesting that they're Tokyo place names even though you're in Chiba.

Actually, Keita Yamanouchi, the first brewmaster, sharpened his skills here and then went independent to launch a brewery called DD4D in Ehime. It's also a brewery that nurtures people. As it's nearing its 10th year since opening, the anniversary party gets lively with 14 beers on tap, including collaboration brews.

10th anniversary! 14 taps!? I definitely have to go! I'm curious about the collaboration beers too!
