Two new hop-forward releases

YYG Factory in Chiba City has announced two new beers through its official Instagram account. The releases, “Nice to Fine” and “Somnium,” are both built around the aromatic character of double dry hopping. While they share a focus on expressive hop aroma, the beers differ considerably in body, strength, and hop selection.

“Nice to Fine”: a smooth 9% Double IPA

“Nice to Fine” is a 9% DDH Double IPA designed to offer a remarkably smooth drinking experience despite its strength. The beer uses Krush as a single hop, from the whirlpool through the dry-hopping stage.

The brewery describes an aromatic profile of tropical fruit, ripe citrus, peach, and subtle berry notes. Its combination of high alcohol content, generous hop aroma, and smooth texture makes it a rich and expressive release for drinkers who enjoy modern Double IPAs.

“Somnium”: an ALORA-focused Cold IPA

“Somnium” is brewed exclusively with ALORA, an emerging hop variety. Its lighter body carries aromas reminiscent of peach, apricot, and green melon.

The beer is presented as a Cold IPA, a style generally associated with a dry, clean finish. YYG Factory has dry-hopped Somnium twice, however, to create a more pronounced and aromatic impression. The result is positioned as a crisp beer that still delivers a distinctly fruity hop character.

YYG Factory operates a brewery and beer-focused venue in Chiba City, producing a broad range of beers from established styles to more experimental releases. These two new beers present an appealing contrast: a full-strength, smooth Double IPA and a lighter-bodied Cold IPA centered on a single emerging hop variety. Tasting them side by side should offer a useful look at how hop selection and brewing technique shape aroma and texture.
