Do you know Citta Brewery? They have a taproom at WestRio 2 by the west exit of Chiba Station, and the operator is actually a house builder.
Mugi
Wait, a company that builds houses makes beer? What is that about!
Hop Bro
It's Studio Citta, a custom home company based in Chiba. President Takeshi Kudo started it with the idea that the construction industry only involves a limited circle of people, and he wanted to create a new community through food. First, he opened nido kitchen, a dry-aged meat restaurant in Hon-Chiba, and then set up the brewery next door.
Mugi
Dry-aged meat and craft beer? That's already a win.
Hop Bro
What's more, they even have Chiba Prefecture's only aging accelerator. The beer is interesting too: WALNUT MOON, a dry stout, was designed to pair with meat dishes.
Mugi
The beer names are stylish too! What else do they have?
Hop Bro
Ash Moment, a DDH hazy IPA, bursts with tropical aroma. Teak Tick is an amber ale with a strong malt character. They also have a farmhouse-style beer called nido and a Belgian amber called Material, and it's great that you can drink them just a short distance from the brewing equipment, right over the restaurant counter.
Mugi
I heard there are only 10 counter seats, but that cozy size is part of the charm.
Hop Bro
They're aiming for a place where even first-time craft beer drinkers can naturally choose something they like. It's directly connected to Chiba Station, so you can drop in after work, and having a smash burger with a beer is the perfect way to enjoy it.
Mugi
Thinking about it as designing beer the way you design a house feels kind of moving. I'll go check it out sometime!
