Miyashita Sake Brewery's Doppo Beer is basically synonymous with craft beer in Okayama.
Mugi
Doppo Beer? I feel like I've heard of it.
Hop Bro
It's a long-established brewery founded in 1915 by the Miyashita brothers, Kamizo and Motosaburo, and it started its craft beer business in 1995. It was the first craft beer entrant in the Chugoku region and the ninth nationwide.

1915!? A sake brewery that's over 100 years old also makes beer!

And it got started under the technical guidance of German brewmaster Wolfgang Lairl. They introduced brewing equipment made in Germany and use top-grade German malt and hops for the ingredients.

A German brewing engineer in Okayama! So it's the real deal.
Hop Bro
It has won first place in the local beer category of the National Liquor Competition for 13 consecutive years. Pilsner, Dunkel, Schwarz, Weizen... every label has won an award.
Mugi
13 years in a row at number one!? That's basically hall-of-fame level!

What I personally find interesting is the 'Takashima Omachi IPA.' It uses Okayama's proud sake rice, 'Omachi,' polished to a 60% milling ratio as an adjunct. It's a brewery-only approach that brings the same idea as ginjo-style sake brewing into beer.
Mugi
Beer made with sake rice!? It's amazing that they're applying sake techniques to beer!

'Golden Lager Momotaro Edition' also uses that Omachi rice, giving the crisp, refreshing lager a rice aroma. 'White Ale Kishin Ura Edition' has a fruity finish with wheat malt blended in. The labels are also inspired by Okayama legends.
Mugi
The Momotaro and Ura labels are cute too! You can really feel the strength of a long-established brewery; I want to try comparing them!
