Have you heard of Kibidote Shita Brewery's Ryugugu Factory? It's their brewing base in Fujisaki, in Okayama City's Naka Ward.
Mugi
Ryugugu sounds like an amazing name! What kind of place is it?

Kibidote Shita Brewery was founded in 2006 by representative Takashi Nagahara, and the Ryugugu Factory is a brewing site developed to increase production capacity by 1.5 times. Their local popularity became so high that they couldn't keep up with demand.
Mugi
Not being able to keep up with production? It must be that popular?

Nagahara-san came into brewing after working at a psychiatric hospital and then in the food service industry. Their standard pale ale, called 'Misaki,' is brewed with real drinkability prioritized over judging criteria. His philosophy is that he does not try to brew strictly to style.
Mugi
So instead of aiming for contests, they tailor it to the drinker's palate. That feels sincere.

What's more, they are also working with a professor from Tottori University to develop yeast from Okayama Prefecture. They've even trial-produced a sour ale using a yeast called 'Lachancea' collected from hydrangeas, and discovered a new Saccharomyces yeast from cherry blossoms.
Mugi
What! Yeast from hydrangeas!? What is that!
Hop Bro
They also use malt produced in Okayama Prefecture, aiming for a fully local beer made entirely from Okayama-grown yeast and malt. The Ryugugu Factory is the base supporting that scale of production.
Mugi
A beer with hydrangea yeast and all-Okayama ingredients...! That's exciting! I want to try it someday~
