Miyashita Sake Brewery to Release the 9th Whiskey Okayama Mini Bottle Edition, "Manzanilla," on March 19
Okayama's Miyashita Sake Brewery released the 9th mini bottle edition of the single malt "Whiskey Okayama," "Sherry Cask Manzanilla," on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Sales are limited to two locations, "Miyashita Sake Brewery Kakuuchi" and "Sake Studio Doppokan," and quantities are limited at both.
Miyashita Sake Brewery has launched the latest entry in its single malt series that can be enjoyed in mini bottles. This 9th release is "Whiskey Okayama Sherry Cask Manzanilla." It comes in a 100 ml bottle, priced at 3,300 yen (tax included), and has been on sale since Thursday, March 19, 2026 at "Miyashita Sake Brewery Kakuuchi" and "Sake Studio Doppokan."
Manzanilla is a dry, crisp sherry aged in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Andalusia, Spain. The official announcement describes it as featuring aromas reminiscent of fresh apples, chamomile, and almonds derived from the cask, along with a sharp, dry flavor. It is also suggested as something to compare with last year's release, "Sherry Cask Oloroso," and the fact that even within sherry casks the character differs is not to be missed by cask-aging fans.
From a beer fan's perspective, this news is interesting as well. Based in Okayama, Miyashita Sake Brewery is a brewery that has developed local beers "Doppo" and "Kurashiki Beer," and it was the first to release a local beer in the Chugoku region, "Doppo," in 1995. Because it is a "comprehensive liquor maker" that handles everything from sake and shochu to gin and whiskey, one of its strengths is that its knowledge of fermentation and maturation is reflected across its products.
Because quantities are limited, if you're interested it's best to check early. For people who want to extend the "enjoying aromas" sensibility they cultivated through craft beer to whiskey as well, this mini bottle seems like an accessible one to pick up.
