Mya Brew Introduces the Three-Brewery Collab "Kind of Gold" from Shiga Kogen Beer × Dogfish Head × Oxbow
Mya Brew in Chikusa Ward, Nagoya, introduced the triple-collaboration beer "Kind of Gold" from Shiga Kogen Beer, Dogfish Head, and Oxbow. According to Shiga Kogen's announcement, it is a special beer brewed as an 8.0% IPA and finished in a way that makes it enjoyable as a beer to drink with food.
A limited collaboration where three personalities overlap
In the area between Imaike and Nagoya Dome in Chikusa Ward, Nagoya, Mya Brew introduced the collaboration beer "Kind of Gold" from Shiga Kogen Beer, Dogfish Head, and Oxbow. Mya Brew is a brewery launched by two sour beer lovers, and its name comes from the Nagoya dialect word "myaa." A brewery rooted in the local community has highlighted a limited release from distinctive breweries in Japan and abroad.
According to Shiga Kogen Beer, this collaboration is one of the three-way collabs brewed this past January, and it has been finished as an IPA. In addition to the two American hop varieties shared with Shiga Kogen's "Sonno Juu," it uses a special New Zealand hop and homegrown Cascade. The aroma recalls yellow citrus like hassaku, and although it is dry, it also has a sense of softness and roundness.
An idea of how to drink it
The alcohol content is 8.0%. Shiga Kogen says it is enjoyable on its own, while also having broad compatibility as a beer to enjoy with food. It is imagined alongside cheese pizza with honey, tempura, and even Japanese food, so it seems like a beer that aims to balance the strong outline typical of IPA with a feel that naturally accompanies a meal.
A shop like Mya Brew, which is centered on sours yet embraces the broad range of craft beer expression, introducing collaborations like this naturally broadens the ways beer can be enjoyed. From the perspective of a neighborhood shop, the cross-border cooperation among three breweries also clearly reflects the strength of the connections that craft beer has today.
