Hop BroThere’s a brewery along the Sumida River in Kiyosumi Shirakawa, brewing in a corner of a cafe restaurant on the second floor of a hotel. It’s called Dawn Brews.

Hop BroIt opened in February 2024 inside the cafe restaurant called "CLANN BY THE RIVER" on the second floor of Hotel LYURO Tokyo Kiyosumi. From the terrace seats, you can see the Sumida River and even Tokyo Skytree.

Hop BroAnd the beer names are great too. "AKEGATA" is a beer inspired by the way the morning glow reflects on the Sumida River. "YOAKEMAE" evokes the image of a pitch-black night sky gradually brightening with the coming of dawn. Every beer is modeled after the scenery of the Sumida River visible from this spot.

Hop BroEven the brewery name, "DAWN," means sunrise. And the big highlight is that they’ve won gold, silver, and bronze in three categories at the Japan Great Beer Awards (JGBA). That’s an amazing result for a brewery that only opened recently.
MugiWhat!? Taking gold, silver, and bronze all within two years means they’re seriously skilled!
Hop BroIt looks like they also offered the beers at a special price to celebrate the awards. Another nice touch here is that the staff explain the story behind each beer. You can drink while hearing about the scenery and feelings woven into each label.
MugiSitting on the terrace, looking at the Sumida River, and hearing the story of dawn behind each beer... I already want to go. They’re releasing new beers all the time too, right?
Hop BroIt’s also worth checking their Instagram for announcements about new releases. Since they serve freshly brewed beers in limited quantities, it’s best to check often and visit when something catches your eye.
