What kind of brewery is BEERDOCK?

The BEERDOCK in Inadazutsumi has an interesting backstory. It used to be a home-brew pub called "Inadazutsumi Beer Brewery," nicknamed Inabaku.

Inabaku? So that became the current BEERDOCK?

Exactly. Inabaku closed in March 2025, and on April 29 of the same year a new owner took over and relaunched it as BEERDOCK with a full renovation. During the previous brewery era, they made beer using Tamagawa pears as a secondary ingredient.

Tamagawa pear beer!? Using local pears in beer is such an amazing idea.

Kawasaki is actually a pear-producing area, and by using off-grade pears that could not be sold, they were also helping reduce food loss. Their collaboration with local farmers worked really well. They brewed on a wheat-malt base, kept the hops restrained, and let the pear flavor come through.

Oh, so they had ties with local farmers too. What is the current BEERDOCK like?

There are usually 7 to 8 taps on at all times, including collaboration beers with Grandline Brewing in Yokosuka and Isana Brewing in Akishima. It's all standing room, and the wood-toned counter gives it a great atmosphere. Bringing your own food is also allowed, which is rare.

Bringing your own food is allowed!? That's amazing! So you can buy snacks nearby and drink there?

Exactly. There's no cover charge, so you can just stop by for one beer. It's about a 7-minute walk from JR Inadazutsumi Station. On weekends, they open at 2 p.m., so it's perfect for daytime drinking.

I want to stand around, try a few styles, and find the ones I like best! I'm going!
