Grandline Brewing Releases SuperMerge, a 6.5% Brut IPA with Three Hops
Yokosuka-based Grandline Brewing has announced SuperMerge, a new 6.5% Brut IPA. Developed through a series of contract test brews, the recipe has been reworked at the brewery’s own Yokosuka facility to mark its third anniversary.
A recipe refined through test brews
Grandline Brewing has announced its new beer, SuperMerge. Classified as a Brut IPA, the beer has an alcohol content of 6.5%. The recipe was refined through a series of external test brews and has now been reborn at Grandline Brewing’s own Yokosuka brewery to commemorate the brewery’s third anniversary.
The name SuperMerge reflects the idea of several elements coming together in a single pour. At its core is the dry, sharp drinking profile associated with Brut IPA. The beer layers three hop varieties—Southern Cross, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin—to create its hop character.
Crisp body, vivid hop expression
Brut IPA is known for its highly attenuated, dry profile and crisp finish. SuperMerge aims to balance a light, sharply drying body with the clear character of its three hops. The result is designed for drinkers who enjoy a clean finish while still looking for distinct hop expression and layered aroma.
Grandline Brewing opened in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, in October 2023. Operating under the theme of a “new beer adventure,” the brewery produces a broad range of styles, including Hazy IPA, IPA, and sour ale. Its location near Yokosuka-Chuo Station offers beers in bottles, cans, and kegs.
SuperMerge marks a new stage for a recipe that had previously been developed through contract brewing. With its dry finish and layered hop profile, the 6.5% Brut IPA offers a concise look at Grandline Brewing’s evolving approach as it enters its third year in Yokosuka.
