Nagano Minamikaze Beer to join the Nasu Beer Festival on Sept. 5-6
The Nagano city brewpub announced it will take part in the 10th Nasu Beer Festival on Sept. 5-6 at Nakagawa Riverside Park. The appearance fits a brewery built around on-site brewing and Shinshu ingredients.
Nagano Minamikaze Beer, a brewpub in Nagano City, said it will appear at the 10th Nasu Beer Festival on Sept. 5-6 at Nakagawa Riverside Park in Nasu-Shiobara, Tochigi. The event brings together 14 breweries, and a lantern program is also planned for the first day, Sept. 5. It gives the Nagano brewpub a place among a wide lineup of craft beer producers heading into early autumn.
The brewery traces its roots to a standing-bar concept that began in Yokohama's Namamugi district. It moved back to Nagano and later relocated to its current Shinden-cho address in December 2021, then obtained its brewing license in April 2022. One of its defining features is the chance to drink while looking at the brewing tanks inside the shop, and the brewery says it aims to build a local craft-beer culture using Shinshu-grown ingredients.
Its food menu also leans local, with dishes such as Shinshu salmon, Shinshu-shinmachi lamb sausage, and cured ham designed to pair with beer. The Nasu appearance highlights how the brewery connects its Nagano taproom business with festival brewing on the road.
