Mahou Brew Wins in Five Categories at International Beer Cup 2026
Naha-based Mahou Brew has received five awards at the International Beer Cup 2026. Its collaborative Triple IPA Hammer Krushed Brain, brewed with Ise Kadoya Brewery, won gold and was also named category champion in the Imperial India Pale Ale division.
Mahou Brew, a craft brewery based in Tsuboya, Naha, Okinawa, has announced five awards at the International Beer Cup 2026. The results span several beer styles, from a high-strength Triple IPA to a Best Bitter and a Leipzig-style Gose.
The brewery’s strongest result came with Hammer Krushed Brain, a collaboration with Ise Kadoya Brewery. The 10.0% Triple IPA won gold in the Bottle/Can division’s Imperial India Pale Ale category and was also selected as the category champion. The same beer earned a silver medal in the Keg division.
Ryukyu Pride, a collaboration with Naha beer bar Craft Beer House BAKU, received bronze in the Bottle/Can division’s Ordinary Bitter or Special Bitter category. Brewed as a 4.5% Best Bitter, it offers a different profile from the brewery’s more hop-forward releases.
William also earned two bronze medals, in both the Bottle/Can and Keg divisions of the German-Style Sour Ale category. The 4.5% Leipzig-style Gose adds a tart, refreshing option to Mahou Brew’s award-winning lineup.
Mahou Brew holds its brewery in Tsuboya, an area known as the birthplace of Okinawan yachimun pottery. After obtaining its liquor manufacturing license in June 2024, the brewery set out to carry the spirit of craftsmanship into beer, aiming to produce beers that are both bold and vivid.
The award announcement also revealed that some of the winning beers had not yet been introduced to the public. Several are among the beers commemorating Mahou Brew’s new location and are scheduled to be shipped first to crowdfunding supporters. Their wider release will be worth watching.
