Yonezawa Jacks Brewery announced "Honnori Sakuranbo" as a re-release of one of its limited products.
This beer is a fruit beer made with 50 kg of cherries, "Sato Nishiki" and "Napoleon," from Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture. While giving a subtle cherry aroma, it is designed not to push sweetness too far forward, resulting in a crisp, easy-drinking finish. Nelson Sauvin is used for the hops, and the malt usage rate is over 50%. With an alcohol content of 5%, it is sold as happoshu in 330 ml bottles through the online store.
Yonezawa Jacks Brewery is a microbrewery that began in the southern part of Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture in the spring of 2018. In addition to its standard Golden Ale, Pale Ale, IPA, and Session IPA, it has also produced limited items using seasonal local ingredients and collaboration products with other breweries and restaurants. Its hallmark is a style that balances drinkability as beer with a distinct personality while using local ingredients.
"Honnori Sakuranbo" is a beer that clearly reflects that direction. While you can enjoy the fruit's bright character, the sweetness is restrained, making it seem well suited to pairing with food. Because it is a limited item, the number available is limited, so anyone interested should check early.
