Nara Brewing, which makes craft beer in Nara City, has announced the initial distribution outlets for its American IPA "LOCOMOTION." The beer was designed as a brew that makes use of the structure of a West Coast IPA while layering bright citrus notes and tropical hop aromas.

On its official page, it is introduced as an American IPA made with Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra, with an ABV of 6.5% and an IBU of 25. It appears almost clear, with grapefruit-like citrus aromas joined by a bright pineapple-driven bouquet. The mouthfeel is soft, the bitterness is restrained, and the finish fades cleanly.

As of May 2, the initial shipping destinations are liquor retailers only. From Beer Volta in Nasushiobara, Tochigi, in the north, to Caliquors Tokyo and CATARATAS BOTTLE SHOP in the Tokyo metropolitan area, DIG THE LINE in Kyoto and TAKAMURA Wine & Coffee Roasters in Osaka in Kansai, and local Nara shops such as Nō to Hakkō Zen and Kintetsu Department Store Nara, Yamatoji, the beer is spreading to retailers across Japan. Because the start date and stock status vary by store, it is necessary to check before purchasing.

Nara Brewing's online store will begin sales at noon on Friday, May 8. True to the company, which has delivered distinctive beers from Nara in an accessible form for drinkers to pick up, this release also centers on hop aroma while being balanced to reach a wide range of drinkers. As the weather turns hotter, it is a release that will catch the attention of anyone looking for a refreshing IPA.
