Nara Brewing Unveils HOiSUM Collaboration Socks Inspired by FUNCTION
Nara Brewing has unveiled its collaboration project “Have “Fun”ction!” with sock brand HOiSUM. Centered on FUNCTION, its flagship beer that won gold at the World Beer Cup 2026, the lineup brings together socks and goods inspired by popular labels.

The star is FUNCTION, the brewery’s staple beer that won gold in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category at the World Beer Cup 2026. Centered on the cat familiar from the label, whose eyes are shaped like the katakana “fa,” the lineup features items themed around the time spent enjoying beer.
A way to enjoy beer from the feet up
This collaboration was planned as a cross-industry partnership between Nara Brewing and HOiSUM. The lineup includes designs inspired by Nara Brewing favorites such as “Have FUNction!”, “Motto Tora x FUNCTION Neko,” “INTEGRAL,” and “KIP.” In the FUNCTION-themed model, the cats express the “fun things” people inevitably do when drinking beer. The design based on HOiSUM’s classic “Tiger” and featuring FUNCTION Neko is finished in a brighter, more pop-oriented color palette.
Putting Nara craftsmanship front and center
The project is also notable for its “All made in NARA” approach, with all of the socks manufactured in factories within Nara Prefecture. Nara is known as one of Japan’s leading sock production regions, and the initiative also seems intended to highlight local craftsmanship once again. Nara Brewing itself is based in Kitanoshō Nishimachi, Nara City. Founded in 2017, it began brewing in 2018. Under the banner “Enjoy choosing your beer!”, it has produced more than 160 kinds of beer.
FUNCTION is an American-Belgo-Style Ale that combines American hops with saison yeast. It is characterized by aromas reminiscent of citrus and white grapes, along with a dry finish, and it has long been enjoyed as a staple beer. This collaboration is an effort to extend the worldview of that signature beer beyond the glass, conveying the brand’s individuality in a more three-dimensional way.
