MAHOWBREW, the Naha-based brewery in Okinawa, has introduced a limited beer titled “Between the Witch and Me” to celebrate its brewing second anniversary. Listed as Batch No. 0079, the beer is a 2nd Anniversary Triple IPA with blood orange and comes in at 10.0% ABV and 90 IBU, signaling a bold, high-impact recipe.
The grist is built on IPA Malt and Carapils, while the hop bill centers on Idaho7 and Simcoe. MAHOWBREW also uses Idaho7 Cryo, YCH805 Idaho7, DynaBoost Idaho7, DynaBoost Simcoe, and HyperBoost Idaho7, layering several hop formats to build a juicy aroma profile.
Blood orange juice plays a central role in the final balance. According to the brewery, the beer brings together hop-driven sweetness, bright acidity, and a pleasant bitterness from the fruit, aiming for a finish that feels cohesive rather than overly aggressive. Even with its high alcohol content and bitterness, the recipe is designed to keep the citrus character visible.
US-05 yeast is used for fermentation. As an anniversary release, the beer appears to focus not only on power, but on how hop intensity and citrus expression can be brought into balance. For MAHOWBREW, a brewery based in Naha, Okinawa, this release stands as a clear snapshot of its current brewing direction.
