A new dark beer for game day

Kawasaki-based brewery Tokaido BEER has introduced THUNDERS BLACK, a new collaboration with the Kawasaki Brave Thunders. The beer is part of THE THUNDERS CRAFT SELECTION and has been available at home games at Tokyu Dresse Todoroki Arena since the season opener on September 26, 2026.

The beer represents the team’s spirit of perseverance and refusing to yield in the face of adversity. Brewed in the imperial stout style, THUNDERS BLACK combines deeply roasted malt aromas with a rich, full-bodied character. Its substantial flavor profile is intended to match the energy and intensity of basketball at the arena.

Three beers, three team spirits

With the addition of THUNDERS BLACK, THE THUNDERS CRAFT SELECTION now includes three beers. THUNDERS LAGER expresses the brilliance of victory, THUNDERS ALE represents the courage to take on challenges, and THUNDERS BLACK embodies an unbreakable spirit. Each beer offers a different style and theme, giving fans another way to choose their drink according to the game or the moment.

THUNDERS BLACK is priced at 950 yen, including tax, and is sold by vendors inside the arena. Because it is an arena-only offering, the beer is closely tied to the home-game experience. It is an alcoholic beverage and is not available to anyone under 20.

A collaboration rooted in Kawasaki

Tokaido BEER is based in Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa. The brewery describes its beers through four aspects of Kawasaki: the Tokaido road, Kawasaki-juku, barley fields, and factories. Its collaboration with the local basketball club reflects that regional focus, bringing together craft brewing, sports, and the city’s identity.
