Nara Brewing, a craft brewery in Nara City, has announced the initial shipment stores for its fruit sour ale, "STUDY IN ROUGE." Founded in 2017, Nara Brewing continues to release a steady stream of beers with distinct personalities, ranging from fruit-based beers and sour styles to collaboration brews, all built around the idea of helping people enjoy the broad diversity of beer.

This new "STUDY IN ROUGE" is a sour ale made with framboise and vanilla. It has an ABV of 6.0% and an IBU of 8. Poured into a glass, it shows a springlike pink hue, while the aroma layers raspberry fragrance with vanilla nuances. The mouthfeel is marked by lively carbonation, and after the sweet-tart fruit character comes forward, vanilla gently lingers on the finish.

As for the initial shipment stores, as of Saturday, April 11, it is available at liquor retailers only. It will be stocked at stores in Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Shizuoka Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, Nara Prefecture, Shimane Prefecture, and Okayama Prefecture. Within Nara Prefecture, participating shops include Nishinokyo Jizake-dokoro Kitora, Kintetsu Department Store Nara Branch Yamatoji, Higashikawa Sake Shop, Nobu Sake Shop, and Sake no Abetaya. Since arrival dates and sales status vary by store, it is best to confirm before purchasing.

According to Nara Brewing, online store sales will begin at noon on Friday, April 17. The release offers both the enjoyment of finding it in physical stores and the option of securing it online. With its vivid sourness characteristic of a fruit sour ale, layered with a vanilla aftertaste, this is a new release worth trying for the spring season.
