Amakusa Sonar Beer unveiled its collaboration beer "BANANA SPLASH" on Instagram. The beer style is a smoothie/pastry sour, with an alcohol content of 4.5%. A joint creation with WITCH CRAFT MARKET, it is being presented as a beer centered on bananas.

The recipe's defining feature is the layering of the aroma and flavor of Ecuadorian bananas with peach and custard cream. According to the description, a lush banana character comes to the fore on the palate, while the finish leaves a refreshing acidity reminiscent of plum and pineapple, and vanilla bean gently peeks through. Rather than pushing sweetness to the forefront, it seems designed to balance dessert-like richness with drinkability.

The brewery is based in Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. On its official website, it says it grows hops right in front of the factory and, as the westernmost hop field in Japan, uses 15 varieties of fresh hops depending on the beer. While continuing to make products that make use of natural ingredients and local character, this time it has brought together a clear combination of banana, peach, and custard within the framework of a sour. It is a bottle to watch for its distinctly Amakusa personality and the fun of a dessert-style sour.
