Amakusa Sonar Beer Announces Dry, Crisp Cold IPA “OUT OF SYNC”
Amakusa Sonar Beer of Amakusa, Kumamoto, has announced “OUT OF SYNC,” a 5.5% Cold IPA built around a dry, clean profile. Made with pesticide-free Kumamoto rice and lager yeast, the beer highlights bright citrus and tropical hop aromas with a crisp finish.
Amakusa Sonar Beer, based in Amakusa City, Kumamoto, has announced its new Cold IPA, “OUT OF SYNC.” The beer has an ABV of 5.5% and uses Columbus, Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, and Nectaron Cryo hops.
The beer is brewed with carefully selected pilsner malt and pesticide-free rice grown in Kumamoto by Hara Noukenjuku. Lager yeast is used for a thorough fermentation, reducing malt sweetness and creating an exceptionally dry and clean body.
For aroma, the brewery dry-hops the beer generously with Simcoe, Citra, and Nectaron. The resulting profile is described as bright and expressive, with citrus and tropical fruit notes alongside a pleasant dank, pine-like character. Despite its rich hop presence, the finish remains clear and crisp.
Amakusa Sonar Beer grows hops in a field directly in front of its brewery, described by the brewery as Japan’s westernmost hop farm. The brewery also works with local ingredients and Amakusa groundwater to create beers that reflect the character of the region.
“OUT OF SYNC” brings together the dry structure of a modern Cold IPA, locally grown Kumamoto rice, and a layered hop profile. Its light, crisp character makes it a fitting release for the lingering warmth of late summer.
