Amakusa Sonar Beer is a brewery based in Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. According to its official website, one of its biggest features is that it grows hops right in front of the brewery and uses 15 varieties of fresh hops as the westernmost hop field in Japan. By combining carefully grown, pesticide-free hops with mineral-rich groundwater, the brewery highlights the unique character of Amakusa.
The brewery also has an attached taproom, where visitors can enjoy fresh beer directly from the brewery on site. This event offers a rare chance to experience beer nurtured in Amakusa while in Kagawa.
