Nara Brewing to Open Its Taproom on June 6, Pairing Gold-Medal Beers with a Brewery Tour
Nara Brewing will open its taproom on June 6, 2026, at its brewery in Nara City and pour FUNCTION and LIGHTHOUSE, both gold medal winners at the World Beer Cup 2026. The event also includes a limited merch release and a reservation-only brewery tour.
What’s happening
Nara Brewing, based in Kitanosho-Nishimachi, Nara City, will open its taproom on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The main draw is the chance to drink FUNCTION and LIGHTHOUSE, both of which won gold at the World Beer Cup 2026. The brewery will also release a new merch line created to celebrate the award: HAVE FUNCTION!
A rare look inside the brewery
The event also includes a brewery tour in areas that are normally off-limits to visitors. Assistant brewers Kaneko and Sakuma will guide the tour, explaining the brewing process and answering questions along the way. The tour is reservation-only and capacity-limited, so early registration is recommended.
A brewery built around choice
Founded in 2017 and beginning brewing in 2018, Nara Brewing has long emphasized the idea of giving drinkers more ways to choose beer. Its philosophy, expressed on the official site as "choosing the joy of beer," reflects a brewery that values variety, quality, and a sense of place. That approach is visible in this open day as well.
The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with last orders at 5:30 p.m. Food matched to the limited beers will also be available at the venue. As parking is not provided, visitors are asked to come by public transportation.
With award-winning beers on tap, new merchandise, and a chance to step inside the brewery, this taproom opening offers a clear snapshot of where Nara Brewing stands today.
