Faló Brewing in Yamamoto Town, Miyagi, has introduced a limited IPA called Obake. The beer comes in at 6% ABV and 40 IBU, and the brewery describes it as "Berry, Dank, Crushable" - a profile built to balance hop aroma with a firm bitterness.

Mosaic is the hop at the core of the beer. According to the brewery, Mosaic’s character helped inspire later releases such as Stereo IPA and ShuChu IPA. For this batch, Faló used a current lot from Yakima, then kept the recipe deliberately simple so the hop could carry the beer. Faló Brewing itself operates out of a renovated former Sakamoto Junior High School in Yamamoto Town, and has been steadily expanding its reach beyond the brewery.

The post notes that this is the second release of Obake, and that the beer is available in both cans and on draft. The brewery also recommends serving it fresh, which makes sense for a hop-forward IPA where aroma and bitterness are both part of the appeal.
