Banri no Haru Brewery in Tondabayashi, Osaka, has released its Chiran Tea Golden Ale. In the brewery's post, the team notes that "this season has come around again," positioning the beer as a recurring seasonal offering.

Brewed with tea from Kagoshima

The beer is a golden ale made with a generous amount of Chiran tea sent from Kagoshima, where the head brewer's brother and his wife relocated. The posted specs are ABV 5%, IBU 17, and SRM 4. The brewery describes it as a refreshing beer that brings out the rich aroma and umami of the first flush tea, while keeping the drinkability expected from a golden ale.

An award-winning beer

This beer already has a strong track record. At the International Beer Cup 2024, it won gold in the Japanese green tea beer category and was also named category champion in the Japan origin division. That makes this release more than just a new seasonal product; it is the return of a beer that has already been recognized by judges.

Sales begin with cans and wholesale

Draft service at the beer hall will start a little later, but can sales and wholesale sales for cans and kegs are beginning now. The rollout gives the beer multiple entry points, whether for drinking at home or for placement in bars and restaurants.

Banri no Haru Brewery is based in the historic Jinaimachi district of Tondabayashi, where a former sake brewery was converted into a brewery and beer hall in 2023. The project keeps the atmosphere of the old sake warehouse while building a craft beer program rooted in the local area.
