A Traditional Helles from Tsuboya, Naha

Mahou Brew is a craft beer brewery based in Tsuboya, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. In a place known as a pottery-making area, it offers a diverse lineup of styles suited to Okinawa’s climate and people, while emphasizing a "thorough commitment to quality" and "hidden strength within."

The newly introduced "Muninn" is positioned as part of the company’s classic lager line. Its style is Munich-style Helles. Batch number: 0037. ABV 5.0%, IBU 22, FG 1.010, SRM 4. The grist uses Pilsner, Vienna, and Melanoidin malts, Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops, and WLP860 yeast.

According to the official website, the flavor centers on the harmony between floral, herbal hop aromas and sweet malt character. The mouthfeel is clean and free of rough edges, and overall it is extremely smooth. Rather than pushing a strong individual character to the forefront, it is designed around the drinkability that defines lager.

Mahou Brew has also released other European-style classic lagers, including Sleipnir (Dortmunder Export) and Huginn (Czech Pale Lager). Muninn is the third in that line, and serves as a beer that shows how the brewery refines both the breadth of craft brewing and the fundamentals of lager. More than flashiness, it is worth noting for its clean balance and easy drinkability.
