A new beer for Grandline Brewing’s third anniversary

Grandline Brewing has announced SUPERMERGE, a new Brut IPA with an alcohol content of 6.5%. According to the brewery’s official Instagram post, the beer features three hop varieties: Southern Cross, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin.

Brut IPA is known for its highly attenuated, dry finish and crisp body. SUPERMERGE follows that direction, pairing a light, sharply finishing palate with a clear hop expression. The beer should be especially interesting to drink slowly as its temperature changes and its hop character develops in the glass.

From test batches to a Yokosuka release

Before this release, SUPERMERGE had been brewed in test batches outside the brewery and received positive feedback. It has now been reworked at Grandline Brewing’s Yokosuka facility as part of the brewery’s third-anniversary celebrations.

Grandline Brewing opened on October 6, 2023, in Yokosuka, Kanagawa. The brewery works under the concept of “SUPERMERGE,” or remarkable fusion, exploring connections between the local and the global, as well as the physical and virtual worlds. It also describes itself as a communication brewery focused on creating connections through beer.

SUPERMERGE is scheduled to be served at the third-anniversary event “KANPAI YOKOSUKA,” taking place October 3–4. For drinkers interested in a dry, hop-driven IPA, the new beer offers an opportunity to taste how Grandline Brewing has developed the style for its next chapter.
