Nagano-based brewpub Nagano Minamikaze Beer is taking part in the Nasu Local Beer Festival in Nasu, Tochigi. In an Instagram post captioned “It has started,” the brewery announced that it was serving beer at the venue on September 6, the second day of the event.

The Nasu Local Beer Festival runs from September 5 to 6 at Nakagawa Lakeside Park. Brewers from different regions gather at the festival, giving visitors the chance to compare a range of local craft beers. Nagano Minamikaze Beer’s participation brings its house-made beers to beer fans in Tochigi and to travelers visiting the area.

The brewery traces its roots to a standing bar opened in Yokohama’s Namamugi district in 2010. It moved to Nagano City in 2016, opened its current brewpub in December 2021, and obtained its brewing license in April 2022. Since then, it has expanded its own brewing program while continuing to build a local beer culture in Nagano.

The brewpub is about an eight-minute walk from Nagano Station. Guests can watch the brewing tanks from the counter while enjoying freshly made beer. Its food menu includes Shinshu salmon, Shinshu-Shinmachi lamb sausage, and Shinshu-cured ham, offering regional pairings alongside the beer.

At the Nasu festival, visitors can experience Nagano Minamikaze Beer in an outdoor festival setting rather than at its Nagano taproom. For local beer fans and travelers alike, the appearance offers a chance to discover the brewery’s beers in a new setting.
