Fujisawa Beer

You know, there were breweries in Kamakura, Enoshima, and Chigasaki, but the one place that didn’t have one was Fujisawa itself. Fujisawa Beer was the one that stepped up there.

Here’s the thing: it’s three high school classmates. The representative, Kazuma Kinoshita, runs a company that makes research equipment; the brewing lead, Noboru Harada, used to be a salaried worker who became interested in making whiskey; and then there’s Ryosuke Kawai, who’s amazing. He was a direct disciple of Rokusaburo Michiba, and even served as the dedicated chef for Yokohama F. Marinos.

Kawai used to manage a Japanese restaurant in Fujisawa when he was 21, and now he’s back in Fujisawa for the first time in 25 years. That’s why the food is on a completely different level, and they can do pairings of Japanese cuisine and craft beer.

Their standard lineup includes Pale Ale, Red Ale, and a Kölsch-style ale, and each label is named after a wave. Among them, "Nagisa -NAGISA-" won the bronze award at the Japan Great Beer Awards 2026, and it also started being sold in bottles.

Fujisawa Beer’s theme is "circulation." It’s beer born from the people of the town, local shops, ingredients, and producers all linking together in a circle. Being in the middle of the shopping district, they also seem to be using malt by-products locally.
