Gangi Brewing Releases New Batches of Its Two Core Beers, Refining HOP SUMMIT and SWOONY
Gangi Brewing in Joetsu City, Niigata, has released new batches of its core series beers, "HOP SUMMIT" and "SWOONY." The former revises the malt and hop composition, while the latter reworks the yeast, and both are available in 15L kegs and 330ml bottles.
Gangi Brewing in Joetsu City, Niigata, has unveiled new batches of two beers in its core lineup. This release covers the West Coast IPA "HOP SUMMIT" and the Hazy IPA "SWOONY." Both have already been released in 15L kegs and 330ml bottles, and the key point this time is that the recipes have been updated while keeping the beers in the regular lineup.
HOP SUMMIT is Batch 11. Both the malt and hop bills have been revised, using Idaho7, Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Chinook, and Columbus. With 6.0% ABV, 52 IBU, and 11 EBC, it is finished as a West Coast IPA with a firm, well-defined bitterness. Its aroma is centered on orange, pineapple, and tropical fruit, layered with hints of spice and caramel.
SWOONY is Batch 10. This time, changing the yeast has reportedly created an impression different from previous versions. This Hazy IPA uses Superderic, Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Mosaic, and Motueka, and comes in at 5.0% ABV, 0 IBU, and 4.7 EBC. It offers a tropical aroma reminiscent of peach, mango, and stone fruit, followed by a refreshing citrus character and a bitter finish that evokes citrus peel.
As a brewery that supports Joetsu's craft beer scene, Gangi Brewing continues to make detailed updates to its flagship beers. In its post, it also announced "Beer Garden in the Parking Lot," which will be held for the first time this year from May 2 to 3, this weekend, making it easy to imagine tasting the two newly released beers on site. This update clearly reflects the brewery's approach of gradually refining its core lineup.
