An overseas brewery visiting Japan has shared a stop at Novoru Brewing in Miyazaki. Novoru Brewing is based in the Aoki area of Miyazaki City. The beer brand was established in February 2022, followed by the opening of its brewery in January 2024. Founder Ryo Osada first encountered craft beer while studying in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. After spending six years training at three breweries in Japan, he returned to his hometown and began building Novoru Brewing.

The brewery’s stated goal is to make beers that are distinctive yet balanced, with clean fermentation and enough drinkability to make people want another sip. Its range focuses on IPA and Pale Ale, including both West Coast and Hazy interpretations, while also exploring classic styles such as Helles and Weizen.

The name “Novoru” combines “novo,” suggesting innovation, with the Japanese word for “rising,” evoking Miyazaki’s bright and dynamic sun. The brewery’s logo incorporates the local sea, the sun, and hops—elements that reflect its sense of place.
