Overview
GRANDLINE BREWING (GLB), a craft brewery based in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, will present its original beer Great Match at Isetan Shinjuku’s “Mid-Summer Beer & Gourmet Festa.” The event runs from July 29 to August 16, 2026, and features pairing menus from 18 restaurants and cafes throughout the department store.
About Great Match
Great Match was created through a collaboration with Isetan Shinjuku and was designed with food pairing in mind. It is a Session IPA with 5.0% ABV, sold in 330ml bottles at 990 yen including tax. The beer is finished carefully with lager yeast, giving it a light, clear drinking profile, gentle hop aroma, and a clean finish that supports the flavors of the food.
According to the brewery, it is intended to pair with a wide range of cuisines, including Japanese, Western, Chinese, Italian, and Korean dishes.
Pairing Highlights
The store lineup covers a broad range of styles. Examples include a craft beer set at Buntokuyama with soybeans and dried fish, summer fried dishes at Shogetsuya Kiccho, monkfish with sansho miso at Sushirozan, and a summer set meal at Tonkatsu Wako Shuan.
Other pairings include plant-based fritters, salad lyonnaise, oyster fritters, French hamburg steak, black pepper stir-fried beef fillet, Cantonese honey-glazed char siu, and Korean-style grilled meat with namul. The range of dishes highlights how the beer is meant to work across different cuisines and textures.
About the Brewery
GLB positions itself as a glocal brewery connecting Yokosuka with the rest of Japan and the world. It opened on October 6, 2023 in Yokosuka City and describes itself as a “Communication Brewery” built around the idea of creating new beer experiences and shared moments of kanpai.
This Isetan Shinjuku project reflects that approach well: rather than presenting beer on its own, GLB is using restaurant partnerships to show how a thoughtfully made beer can expand the dining experience. For beer drinkers, it is a clear example of craft beer being used as a food companion rather than a standalone product.
