Osaka-based Derailleur Brew Works posted a major result at the World Beer Awards 2026. According to the brewery’s Instagram announcement, WC IPA won gold in the American Style IPA category and was also named the category’s top beer, taking home the title of "World's Best American Style IPA." It also earned Country Winner (Japan).

The result was not limited to one beer. Hazy IPA won gold in Milkshake IPA / New England IPA, and "振(アルト)" won gold in Altbier. Citrus Sour Ale earned silver in Fruit & Vegetable, while the experimental beer titled 殴ったね!親父にもブッラータれたことないのに! took silver in the Experimental category. In total, five beers from the brewery were recognized.

On its official website, Derailleur Brew Works describes itself as a craft beer factory in Nishinari, Osaka, and says it was founded around recreating the Nishinari Riot Ale recipe. That background matters here: this is a brewery built on an offbeat, non-linear approach to beer, and the award results show that its range is being recognized on an international stage.

What stands out is the breadth of styles that were honored. Alongside a hop-forward IPA, the lineup included a sour beer and an experimental release, suggesting that the award is as much about the brewery’s overall brewing range as it is about one flagship beer.
