Derailleur Brew Works, based in Nishinari, Osaka, has announced the release of New World Neuromancer #016. The beer is offered as a six-bottle set through the brewery’s online shop and marks the return of the series after a period away from the brewhouse.

A mixed-juice-inspired IPA

New World Neuromancer #016 is a Mix Juiced IPA brewed with white peach juice, banana purée, custard cream, and lactose. Derailleur Brew Works describes it as a rich yet nostalgic beer inspired by Osaka’s famous mixed juice.

The aroma opens with soft white peach and sweet banana, followed by creamy custard notes. Lactose adds a gentle sweetness, while wheat malt, oats, and custard contribute a thick, smooth texture reminiscent of a fruit smoothie. The finish is soft and lingering, with a dessert-like sweetness.

Despite its fruit-forward profile, the beer retains the structure expected of an IPA. It is brewed to 7% ABV and 52 IBU, giving the rich fruit and creamy elements a firm, bitter backbone.

A beer with a story

The product page presents the release under the phrase “Dedicated to Dave, Naoko, and Heartland,” followed by a piece of speculative fiction set around Osaka’s Shinsekai district and the idea of rare, natural hops. The narrative reflects Derailleur Brew Works’ broader approach: communicating each beer’s background through flavor, label design, and storytelling.

The brewery was established in Nishinari as a brewing and creative collective focused on recreating the recipe for Nishinari Riot Ale. Its name, derived from a French word meaning “one who leaves the usual path,” reflects its commitment to brewing outside conventional expectations.

New World Neuromancer #016 brings together white peach, banana, custard, and lactose in a dense, smooth interpretation of a classic Osaka flavor. The beer is sold as a refrigerated product and is intended to be stored cold.
