Sakura Brewery introduces Twilight Saison, a classic saison with white-grape notes
Sakura Brewery in Kitakami, Iwate has introduced Twilight Saison, a 5% classic saison shaped by a spicy, fruity profile and a white-grape-like finish from Nelson Sauvin.
A saison for the hour between day and night
Sakura Brewery's Twilight Saison is built on a classic saison framework, then lifted by a bright, refreshing aroma. Beer listings describe it as 5% ABV, 31 IBU, and 7.9 EBC, with a grist of Pale Ale, Vienna, and Wheat malts, plus Nelson Sauvin hops.
The sensory profile points to a light spice character, followed by a fruity finish that recalls white grape. It is not a beer that pushes hard; instead, it leaves a gentle aftertaste that fits the idea of "twilight time" and feels well suited to an unhurried glass in the early evening.
Sakura Brewery began production in Kitakami, Iwate in 2015 and opened its direct-run pub, ale house Robin Hood, later that same year. The brewery name comes from the cherry blossoms of Tenshochi, one of Kitakami's best-known sakura spots. That local connection runs through much of its portfolio, while the brewing itself is shaped by a British-born brewer with experience in British-style beer making.
The brewery has long worked with locally rooted ideas, from beers tied to Tenshochi cherry blossoms to recipes inspired by regional water sources. Seen in that context, Twilight Saison fits neatly into Sakura Brewery's lineup: a seasonal-feeling beer that balances local identity with a restrained, style-forward approach.
