Sakura Brewery, based in Kitakami, Iwate, will participate in Iwate Craft Beer Fest in Morioka 2026, taking place on October 3 and 4, 2026, at the plaza in front of Morioka History and Culture Museum.

Sixteen breweries from across Iwate are scheduled to attend. Each brewery will serve a varied lineup ranging from familiar core beers to special and limited releases. A tasting set covering all participating breweries is also planned, giving visitors a chance to explore the prefecture’s craft beer scene in one location. Admission is free, while beer is purchased directly at each brewery’s booth. A food area featuring ingredients from around Iwate will also be available.

The festival runs from 11:00 to 17:00 on October 3 and from 10:00 to 16:00 on October 4. The venue is located at 1-50 Uchimaru, Morioka. It is approximately a 25-minute walk from Morioka Station, with bus access also available. There is no parking at the venue.

A brewery rooted in Kitakami

Sakura Brewery began production in Kitakami in March 2015 and opened its direct-operated ale house, Robin Hood, the following month. The brewery’s name refers to the cherry blossoms of Kitakami’s Tenshochi Park, one of the region’s celebrated cherry-blossom destinations. The name also reflects the brewer’s family connection to the person who helped establish the park’s cherry trees.

Its lineup includes Sakura Ale, brewed with yeast cultivated from cherry blossoms at Tenshochi, and Hayama Lager, made with water sourced from a marsh-marigold habitat in the Iwasawa area of Kitakami. Alongside beers inspired by local nature and culture, the brewery also produces limited beers in British styles under its British brewer, with more than ten beers reportedly available on an ongoing basis.

For beer enthusiasts, the festival offers an opportunity to compare the character of Sakura Brewery with breweries from across Iwate while enjoying local food in central Morioka.
