Far Yeast Brewing, based in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi, shared a harvest update for its seasonal Far Yeast Sumomo Salty Sour on Instagram. The brewery continues its "Brewed with Yamanashi" initiative, which focuses on beers made with ingredients from the prefecture.

According to the post, the plums were harvested at Kikushima Seiyodo Higashi Branch, a plum farm in Fuefuki, Yamanashi. This year’s beer will use the Oishi Wase variety, replacing last year’s Soldam. The fruit was already fully ripe, and the brewery described it as large, juicy, and notably sweet. The post also mentioned some of the plums appearing heart-shaped.

Sumomo Salty Sour is one of Far Yeast Brewing’s fruit-driven limited beers. The series is built around the balance between plum acidity and a light, gose-like finish, making it a clear example of how the brewery works with local agricultural ingredients.

The post says production is now moving ahead after the harvest, with release planned before Obon. From its Genryu Brewery in Kosuge Village, Far Yeast continues to connect Yamanashi-grown produce with seasonal beer releases.
