The final release in Minoh’s four-peach series

Minoh Brewery has announced the latest edition of its popular seasonal beer, Peach Weizen. The Kawanakajima version is the final release in this year’s sequence of four peach varieties: Wase, Hakuhō, Shimizu, and Kawanakajima.

The brewery uses “Arakawa peaches” grown by Hakki Farm in Wakayama Prefecture. The freshly harvested fruit is carefully processed into purée by hand on the day it is picked, then incorporated into the beer. Because the peach variety changes according to the harvest season, each release offers a different aroma and flavor profile.

Kawanakajima peaches are known for their high sugar content, reddish flesh, and especially rich fragrance. In the beer, those characteristics are layered with the fruity aromas produced by Weizen yeast, including notes reminiscent of clove and banana.

Fruity aroma with a dry finish

Made with 50% wheat malt, the beer has a pale, cloudy appearance and a soft mouthfeel. Although peach flavor is clearly present, the beer is designed to avoid excessive sweetness, finishing with a clean, dry character. The result balances the gentle texture of a Weizen with the concentrated fruitiness of ripe peaches.

The beer is classified as happoshu, with an alcohol content of 5.0% and an IBU of 12. Ingredients include malt, hops, and Japanese peach purée, with Motueka hops used in the recipe. It is unfiltered and best enjoyed at 8–12°C.

Based in Minoh, Osaka, Minoh Brewery is known for a broad range of beers, including its flagship Stout and Osaru IPA. Its Peach Weizen has become one of the brewery’s signature seasonal releases, expressing the character of both the fruit and the harvest season. The Kawanakajima edition offers beer lovers a chance to close out this year’s series by comparing the distinct personalities of all four peaches.
