Minoh Beer Releases Its Third Peach Weizen with Shimizu Hakuto
Minoh Brewery in Minoh, Osaka, has announced the third release in its annual Japanese Peach Weizen series. Made with freshly harvested Arakawa peaches from Wakayama, the Shimizu Hakuto version combines an expressive peach aroma with the soft, rounded character of wheat malt.
The third Japanese Peach Weizen
Minoh Brewery has announced “Peach Weizen (Shimizu Hakuto Version),” the third installment of its summer seasonal Japanese Peach Weizen series. Sales through the official online shop will begin at 5:00 p.m. on September 14, 2026. The beer will be available in 330 ml bottles and kegs.
The brewery uses Arakawa peaches from Hakki Farm in Wakayama, a region known for its peaches. Freshly harvested fruit is processed by hand into purée on the day of harvest before being added to the beer. Shimizu Hakuto is considered the most aromatic of the four peach varieties used in the series and is known for its sweet, fragrant character.
Peach aroma meets Weizen yeast
With wheat malt making up 50% of the grist, the beer has a gentle, soft mouthfeel. Fruity notes from the Weizen yeast, including hints of clove and banana, overlap with the juicy aroma of peach. Despite the fruit-forward profile, the beer is designed to finish cleanly without excessive sweetness.
The beer has an alcohol content of 5.0% ABV and 12 IBU. It pours a milky white and is unfiltered. The ingredients are malt, hops, and Japanese peach purée, with Motueka hops used in the brew. Minoh recommends serving it at 8–12°C.
The Peach Weizen series uses four peach varieties depending on the harvest season: Wase, Hakuho, Shimizu, and Kawanakajima. Each batch can therefore offer subtle differences in aroma and flavor, making the series particularly suited to tasting across varieties.
Minoh Brewery began brewing in 1997 in Minoh, Osaka, a city known for its waterfall, autumn foliage, and rich natural surroundings. The brewery focuses on classic beer styles while also incorporating local ingredients such as yuzu and fruit from nearby areas. Its stated aim is to create “daily beer”—beers that fit naturally into everyday drinking. This release brings that philosophy together with the seasonal character of fresh Japanese peaches.
