Yorocco Beer’s Iwase Brewery Introduces Summer-Ready Washed Out
Yorocco Beer, the Kamakura-based brewery, has introduced Washed Out as this week’s release. Built on a simple European-hop pilsner base and dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Saphir, it is positioned as an easy-drinking West Coast Pilsner for the start of summer.
A Summer-Leaning Release
Yorocco Beer, the local brewery based in Kamakura, has announced Washed Out as its latest weekly release. In the Instagram post, the brewery references a sudden squall and suggests that the weather already feels almost subtropical, framing the beer as an earlier-than-usual nod to summer.
Washed Out is a West Coast Pilsner built on a simple pilsner base using European hops, then dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin from New Zealand and Saphir from Germany. The lagering process gives it a clean, crisp body, while the hop flavor and bitterness remain bright and easy to follow. The beer comes in at 5.5% ABV.
West Coast Pilsner has become a style that bridges classic pilsner drinkability and a more modern hop-forward profile. Washed Out appears to lean into that balance, aiming for something refreshing enough for warmer days without losing structure.
Yorocco Beer has long positioned itself as a small local brewery with a strong sense of seasonality. Based in Kamakura, the brewery often ties its releases to the mood of the moment, and Washed Out fits that approach well with its crisp finish and cool, summery direction.
