2470 Beer Boy #Ito

Derailleur Brew Works is based in Nishinari, Osaka, and describes itself as a craft brewery and planning team rooted in the neighborhood it calls "Nishinari," a district associated with daytime drinking culture. On its official site, the brewery says it was established to recreate the recipe for Nishinari Riot Ale.

The newly highlighted beer is "2470 Beer Boy #Ito," brewed by Ito, a former DBW brewer. DBW positions the beer as the second installment in its "2470 Beer Boy" series, a project featuring homecoming brews made by former in-house brewers. This year, the lineup also includes Okikichi, who recently graduated from DBW, alongside Ito, Baku, Nakamura, Ebihara, and Okikichi. Ito is presented as a brewer whose strength lies in combining the character of Belgian yeast with the cool aroma of kuromoji.

The beer is listed as a Belgian Imperial IPA w/ Kuromoji. The recipe uses Tettnang Tettnanger, Callista, Ekuanot, and Cryo-Ekuanot hops, with Imperial Yeast-Triple Double as the yeast strain. It sits at 8% ABV and 41 IBU. According to the product description, the beer layers spicy Belgian yeast character with berry-like fruitiness and the crisp, elegant aroma of kuromoji, finishing with soft sweetness and a lingering note of spice and herbs.

What stands out here is DBW's consistent focus on story as much as flavor. By bringing back former brewers and framing each release around the people behind it, the brewery turns a single beer into a snapshot of its history, its personnel, and its current identity in Nishinari.
