Far Yeast Brewing (Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture), in collaboration with Sapporo Breweries, released "Terroir Brew," a Brut IPA with Wine Grapes made with grapes for winemaking, on February 11, 2026. The theme this time is "wine x beer." It is positioned as the second installment following the first release in June 2025, "Otomono Osake" (sake-inspired).

The grapes used in this release were Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc harvested in 2025 at Sapporo's Gran Polaire Hokkaido Hokuto Vineyard. According to the announcement, the two companies jointly destemmed and pressed about 700 kg of grapes, then soaked the skins in the beer during fermentation in addition to the juice. Using a process inspired by wine maceration, they say they brought out aromas reminiscent of lychee and white peach, a floral character, and a tannic feel.

The yeast is centered on champagne yeast, with French saison yeast used alongside it. Aiming for a dry finish with no residual sugar, the recipe is designed to keep fermentation-derived flavors subdued and bring the grape character to the forefront. In addition, Furano Queen, a domestically developed hop from Sapporo, is dry-hopped late in the process to layer in white-wine-like citrus aroma and grassy nuances.

Specs are ABV 7.5%, available in 350 ml cans and 15 L kegs. It is brewed at Far Yeast Brewing's Genryu Brewery (Kosuge Village, Kitatsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture). Sales are limited to Sapporo's direct-run online store "Shupark" and Far Yeast's official online store, and it will not be sold through general retail.

Far Yeast was founded in 2011 and started operations at the Genryu Brewery in Kosuge Village in 2017. It has continued brewing with local ingredients, including initiatives such as "Brewed with YAMANASHI," which uses Yamanashi agricultural products. This release is noteworthy as a domestic craft collaboration model that combines those local practices with vineyard-derived ingredients from Hokkaido and the development capabilities of a major manufacturer.
