Grandline Brewing Begins Wholesale Sales of Experimental Hazy IPA "Trial βrew #03"
Grandline Brewing of Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, has begun wholesale sales of its new Hazy IPA, "Trial βrew #03." The beer is designed with reduced sweetness and a subtle bitterness that sharpens its contours, with fruit notes reminiscent of peach and berries. It is being offered in 15-liter kegs for commercial use.
A New Way to Explore Hazy by Taking Away the Sweetness
On April 10, Grandline Brewing began wholesale sales of its new Yokosuka-brewed release, "Trial βrew #03 | Hazy IPA." This release is available only as 15-liter draft kegs, with both stainless and one-way keg formats offered.
The beer is described as an experimental take that retains the richness associated with Hazy IPA while deliberately dialing back the sweetness. A subtle bitterness sharpens the outline, while peach- and berry-like fruit character is pushed to the front, aiming for a satisfying finish that is not too light. The style is Hazy IPA, with an ABV of 7.0%. The hop bill uses HBC638, Strata, and Talus.
Grandline Brewing is a brewery based in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. It opened in October 2023 and states on its official website that it aims to create "glocal beer that connects from Yokosuka to all of Japan and then to the world." The brewery has also put forward a "Crypto Beer" concept that crosses between the real and virtual worlds, and this Trial βrew series appears to reflect that experimental spirit.
This "Trial βrew #03" is being introduced as a key product intended for sale through a commercial sales website. Rather than simply following the hazy trend, it deserves attention as a step toward exploring the next form of expression by rethinking the design of sweetness.
