Nara Brewing launches FUNCTION - Have Fun ver. after World Beer Cup gold
Nara Brewing Co. has started selling FUNCTION - Have Fun ver., a limited-label version of its regular FUNCTION, to celebrate a gold medal in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category at the World Beer Cup 2026. The release adds a playful visual twist to one of the brewery’s signature beers.
Based in Nara City, Nara Brewing Co. was founded in 2017 and has built its lineup around the idea that beer can reflect the character of its home region. The brewery has now introduced FUNCTION - Have Fun ver., a special-label version of its regular American-Belgo-style ale FUNCTION, marking the beer’s gold medal win in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category at the World Beer Cup 2026. The official page lists 10.4L, 15.5L, and 350ml formats.
The label features the familiar cat from the standard FUNCTION artwork, this time reworked around the theme of "Have Function!" and the kinds of fun people naturally get into while drinking beer. It is a visual celebration of the beer’s award, but the recipe remains the same core beer: ABV 6.0%, IBU 24, and a hop bill of Mosaic, Hallertau Blanc, Cascade, Nelson Sauvin, and Mandarina Bavaria.
Nelson Sauvin leads the aroma with white-wine and Sauvignon Blanc-like notes, while the other hops add layers of white grape, tropical fruit, berry, and citrus. Saison yeast gives the beer a dry finish with a slight tart edge, making it a beer designed for repeat sips rather than a one-and-done pint.
