New 16th Anniversary Release Tapped Early

At the beer specialty shop "vivo! BEER+DININGBAR" on the east side of Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the 16th anniversary original beer "16 (sixteen)" was tapped early starting today at 16:00. It was brewed by CYCAD BREWING. The style is English Golden Ale, and its subdued maltiness and orange-like character come together for a dry, easy-to-drink finish.

The Meaning Behind "16"

The name was chosen while following the line of the house ale "42" and focusing on the meaning carried by the number 16. The shop says it was strongly drawn to a word that signifies a turning point, a period of transition through which one keeps only what is necessary and evolves into a better form. It is a straightforward name well suited to an anniversary milestone.

Anniversary Event From April 22

From April 22 to April 26, the shop plans to tap two 16th anniversary original beers, distribute commemorative stickers, and serve rare beers from breweries that have supported them. With 20 kinds of draft beer on hand, as you would expect from a beer pub, the anniversary program should offer a wide variety of pours as well.

Best Enjoyed With Food

The lineup that day includes vivo! × CYCAD BREWING's "42 (forty two)" and "16 (sixteen)," along with offerings from Oni Densetsu, Y.Market Brewing, Devilcraft, Inkhorn Brewing, Minoh Beer, Baeren Brewery, Mojiko Retro Beer, Kanpai! Brewing, Ushitora Brewery, Nanshu Brewery, Be Easy Brewing, Ise Kadoya Beer, Moriyamaen, St. James's Gate, and Kirin Brewery. Seasonal menu items include potato salad, chilled omelet, oysters and okra marinated in oil, pizza with shirasu and sakura shrimp, and herb-butter-grilled pork tenderloin, giving you plenty of ways to enjoy beer with food.

vivo! BEER+DININGBAR is a beer pub in the basement of Higashi-Ikebukuro. At this anniversary milestone, it offers a chance to taste the shop's original new release and guest beers all in one go.
