Sankt Gallen announced in an official Instagram post that the first batch of Shonan Gold fruit for this season has arrived. Though brief, the update is welcome news for fans who look forward to this time of year, as it signals the arrival of spring.

The brewery, based in Atsugi, Kanagawa, is known for its seasonal products made with fruit. Among them, "Shonan Gold" has become an established signature fruit beer made with a citrus variety bred in Kanagawa Prefecture. According to official information, it uses not only the juice but also the peel and flesh, with a design that emphasizes citrus character from the aroma through the finish.

Another notable point is that the fruit used for Shonan Gold includes blemished produce and nonstandard sizes. This approach, which fully makes use of agricultural value, aligns well with the local character of craft beer and gives the product a background that goes beyond being simply a beer with fruit added. As a product that connects Kanagawa agriculture and brewing, the timing of its annual arrival itself has become a seasonal marker.

The official product page says that in 2026 as well, sales will begin on April 14 as a spring-summer limited release. This latest "first batch arrival" can be seen as a sign that preparations for full-scale brewing are finally getting underway. With the citrus season about to take center stage, anticipation is already building for what expression this year's batch will show before its release.
