Noboru Brewing Announces West Coast Double IPA 'Togaru'
Noboru Brewing in Miyazaki City introduced its double-dry-hopped West Coast Double IPA, "Togaru (Togaru)," on Instagram. It is designed at ABV 8.5% and IBU 100, and is presented as a refined version of Batch No. 4 brewed in January 2024.
Miyazaki City's Noboru Brewing introduced its new beer Togaru (Togaru) on Instagram. The brewery opened in January 2024 and, while based in Miyazaki City, produces beers centered on IPAs and Pale Ales, as well as Helles and Weizen.
This time's Togaru is a Double Dry-Hopped West Coast Double India Pale Ale. The specs are ABV 8.5% and IBU 100, and the hops used are Strata, StrataCGX, Columbus, and Citra. In the post, the brewery explains that this is a refreshed re-release of a double IPA first brewed shortly after production began in January 2024 as Batch No. 4.
Its character lies in the balance between firm bitterness and contemporary hop aroma. It is said to be built around the clean, powerful bitterness from Columbus, layered with passion fruit, grapefruit, and dank nuances from Strata and Strata CGX. Noboru Brewing says the goal was a finish that is easy to drink yet doesn't wear you out, with substantial bitterness but a smooth drinkability.
In the post, it is positioned as one of the beers that was well received in the past, and can also be read as a return that answers the calls of people saying, "I want to drink that again." This release, which keeps the outline of a classic West Coast IPA while increasing the density of hop aroma, seems to clearly express the brewery's stance of "making people happy with the best beer."
