Grand Line Brewing Restarts the Legendary Hazy "Super Welcome"
Grand Line Brewing in Yokosuka, Kanagawa has rebooted its Hazy Double IPA "Super Welcome," a beer that drew strong support in the brewery's early days. After its March 3 release, it drew renewed attention again in an Instagram post at 1:18 p.m. on March 6. It is a beer rebuilt around sweetness, a silky mouthfeel, and a dense aroma.
The legendary beer returns with today's design
Grand Line Brewing has brought back "Super Welcome," a flagship hazy beer that was popular when the brewery first launched. According to official information, the style is Hazy Double IPA and the alcohol by volume is 8.0%. Built with oats and wheat for a smooth texture, plus a soft sweetness from lactose, it aims for a beer that feels full-bodied yet goes down smoothly.
Points behind the recipe rebuild
For this reboot, the hop bill and the balance of sweetness and alcohol have been revisited. The hops used are Citra / Mosaic / El Dorado, with tropical aroma, ripe fruit character, and restrained bitterness forming the core. While emphasizing the juicy character typical of hazy beers, it was adjusted to reduce palate fatigue toward the finish, which should interest both longtime fans and new drinkers.
Sales format and where to get it
It will be sold as 15L kegs (stainless / one-way) and 330ml bottles. For consumers, it is available through online sales, while business customers are directed to a dedicated trading site. You could also try the bottle first, then compare how it tastes from a tap pour at a bar.
Where the brewery stands now
Grand Line Brewing is based in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture and opened in October 2023. With "adventure" and "voyage" as part of its brand message, it has offered a broad lineup including not only hazy IPAs but also sours and IPAs. The relaunch of "Super Welcome" is not just a revival, but a move to redefine the brewery's roots in the context of its current lineup. As a candidate for a standard beer from Yokosuka, its future on draft is worth watching.
