Miyazaki Prefecture’s Nobeoka-based Hideji Beer introduced “Miyazaki Mango Lager” on Instagram. Also listed in the lineup on the company’s official website, this beer is a seasonal fruit lager made with Miyazaki mango. It has an alcohol content of 6%, comes in 330 ml bottles, and is classified as happoshu.
According to the company’s explanation, while mango often brings to mind strong sweetness and aroma, this product was finished with an emphasis on balance as a lager beer. It uses no flavoring, and is said to feature the natural aroma derived from Miyazaki mango along with a refreshing, soft mouthfeel.
Hideji Beer is a brewery known for making beer that makes use of ingredients from Miyazaki. Based in Nobeoka, it has also released products using locally grown barley, hyuganatsu, and kumquats, consistently offering flavors with a strong sense of regional character. This Miyazaki Mango Lager can also be seen as part of that ongoing approach.
Its design, which uses seasonal fruit while avoiding excessive sweetness and maintaining drinkability, should also make it easy to pair with meals. For beer fans interested in how mango character can be expressed within the lightness of a lager, this is a limited release worth noting.
