A spring-summer staple centered on Yamanashi peaches

Far Yeast Brewing has begun selling ‘Far Yeast Peach Haze’ on April 15. This hazy-style fruit pale ale uses a generous 500 kg of peaches from Peach Specialty Yamashita, a peach farm in Yamanashi City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

The company has established its source brewery in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, and has continued making beer that makes use of the region’s local character. One part of that effort is ‘Brewed with YAMANASHI’. Through collaborations with local agricultural products and producers, the series is being developed to share the appeal of Yamanashi through beer.

A recipe designed to highlight peach aroma

This year’s ‘Far Yeast Peach Haze’ is a Fruited Hazy Pale Ale with an alcohol content of 5.0% and IBU 10. It uses Pomona yeast, often used in Hazy IPAs, to enhance the impression of peach with aromas reminiscent of citrus and tropical fruit.

The dry hop bill also combines Idaho 7 Cryo, Citra, and Nectaron, layering in tropical aromatic depth. The result is a design that balances the natural aroma of peaches with hop-derived citrus character and a smooth mouthfeel.

Why it continues to be loved

‘Far Yeast Peach Haze’ first appeared in 2020 as the first release in the “Yamanashi Support Project” and has returned every year since, making it a popular product. Since 2022, it has been positioned as a spring-summer staple, and in 2024 the project name was refreshed to ‘Brewed with YAMANASHI’.

Shipments begin sequentially from April 16 to liquor stores, restaurants, and beer bars nationwide. It will also begin shipping sequentially from the official online store on April 17. Available in 350 ml cans and 15 L kegs, it is a beer that can be enjoyed both at retail locations and at home.

This new release clearly reflects Yamanashi peaches and the accumulation of local brewing. It is a noteworthy release not only for fans of fruity hazy beers, but also for anyone following beers made with regionally sourced ingredients.
